General Education is the starting point for your transfer destination. Whether you're
pursuing an associate degree (60 or more semester hours) or a bachelor's degree
(120 or more credits), you'll need to take a set of core courses considered an essential
foundation for a well-rounded education. The IAI GECC consists of a set of 12 to
13 courses (37 to 41 credits). Successful completion of these core courses at any
participating college or university in the state of Illinois will facilitate transfer
to any other participating associate or bachelor degree program.
A student who completes 30 semester credit hours of college level coursework and
transfers to an IAI participating institution will be given the option of completing
the IAI Gen Ed or the receiving institution’s lower-division general education core
requirements.
Remember to always seek advice from an academic
advisor or admissions counselor early and often when making transfer plans.
