4. Course Approval Criteria and Submission Process – Review materials 5. Items from Panel Members Panos Hadjimitsos - Introductory conversation for the inclusion of a variable credit hours course that can cound towards the engineering technical hours in support of learning activities such as: Introduction to Engineering; this is more like an FYE course to: let all first semester and or first year students know who their program mates are. At my school we have about 200 students among 16,000. When I ask them how many engineering students they think come to the college, I get figures in the 1,000 to 3,000 range. get to know key engineering faculty and support staff members explore team and study groups building activities Internships; such a course will support maintaining an interaction with engineering faculty throughout the 8 to 15 week internship window. Special Topics course. Experimental or fast moving course opportunities for engineering content Other The first two can be as little as one credit hour courses. The experimental can be a regularly sized course. For example, the college keeps thinking whether to offer a mechanics of solids course. Well, before we do too much work, we could offer an EGN-199-Special Topics: MECH of SOLIDS course to see how much traction it gathers and whether we should formally add it to the catalog. 6.
