Board Updates – Justin and Patrick III. Policy & Procedure Issues Requiring Discussion(s) a. Panel Review Process – • Detailed weekly topical outlines and assignment descriptions: Continuing issues regarding 1) the level of detail submitted versus expected, and 2) disagreement amongst panel members as to how much detail is needed in order to make consistent decisions on submitted courses. Need a common understanding (preferably across both GECC and Major panels) regarding what is absolutely necessary and why to both help panel members in reviewing courses as well as institutions submitting courses for panel review. b. GECC Panel Meeting Mode – • Continue meeting in-person with Zoom option OR change to 100% Zoom? c. Split / Expansion of GECC Panels • GECC HUFA – Split into two panels based on current classification of Humanities and Fine Arts descriptors (except for interdisciplinary descriptor codes) • GECC SBS – Split into two groups (Panel A, Panel B) that reviews courses inclusive of all of the panel’s current descriptors (except for interdisciplinary descriptor codes) • Creation of a new GECC panel that reviews courses submitted under all IAI GECC interdisciplinary codes to include GECC HUFA, SBS, Life, and Physical Sciences d. Process of reviewing and deciding on courses that are resubmitted with an entirely different syllabus than the previous submission(s) IV. Old and Other Business a. Carryover Topics – Malinda • Course review process and interdisciplinary topics from Fall ’23 and Spring ’24 are all related to / covered under today’s P&P section of the agenda b. Other – Patrick • Interest in modularizing courses that are competency-based c.
