MC 921 Photojournalism: (3 Semester Credits)
An introduction to the principles and techniques of photojournalism across multiple media platforms, such as use in print, broadcast, and social/connected media.
Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to:
- Identify the major historical events in the field of photojournalism;
- Identify the principles and values of newsworthy photojournalism, including legal and ethical considerations;
- Apply the basics of visual literacy, photojournalism, communication;
- Use digital cameras for photojournalism purposes;
- Apply basic photocomposition techniques to various newsgathering situations;
- Use emerging techniques and technologies to create photojournalistic content;
- Demonstrate understanding of basic digital image processing.
