COURSE RETIRED as of 05/1/2016: Instruction includes the various methods of product fabrication and the manufacturing processes for economic decision-making in manufacturing and product design. Other topics include the interrelationship among materials, their selection for use in product design and processes, and how to convert materials into finished components. Upon successful completion of this course, the student is expected to be able to: • Demonstrate knowledge of manufacturing techniques and terminology. • Explain the structure and properties of basic engineering materials and their relationship to manufacturing. • Describe the fundamental equipment and processes employed in common manufacturing operations. • Identify process parameters and their effects on the manufacturing processes.
